Dance Therapy

Dance can be therapeutic

Our everyday habits and behaviors have unconscious emotions embedded in them. Dance can connect our mental and physical expressions.

History

Dance therapy began in the mid 20th century with Blanch Evan, Mary Whitehouse, and Marian Chace. They found that thinking could be replaced with meaningful action

How it works

Dance therapy increases awareness of the intrinsic correlation of feelings and behavior. Dance improvisation and speech support each other toward discovery of an authentic expression of emotion and thoughts. It allows a vitalizing release that helps people move forward in their lives, past unideal life situations.
